Mass mobilisation against closure of state electricity company in Mexico

Last Sunday the president closed the plant - which served more than one-fifth of the country's energy needs - and 44,000 workers were sacked. Theworkers are members of SME, the Electrical Workers’ Union http://www.sme.org.mx/inicio.html

SME leader Martin Esparza said on Thursday that the federal government had agreed to negotiate over replacement jobs for the sacked workers.
