International Action Day for Qantas workers: 16 November 2011

The International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF) is calling on trade unionists worldwide to show solidarity with the workers and families of Australian airline Qantas. In the UK a protest will be held at the Australian High Commission at Australia House, Strand, London WC2B 4LA from 13:00 to 14:00 on Wednesday 16 November: http://www.itfglobal.org/press-area/index.cfm/pressdetail/6679

Qantas workers have been seeking guarantees on quality jobs, job security and fair wages while Qantas is potentially looking to cut labour costs by outsourcing overseas:

The ITF has also launched: ‘We Support Qantas Families’ campaign page; to endorse their support to all Qantas workers and their families in Australia, urging Qantas to: Negotiate a fair deal on wages for workers in good faith; Give a guarantee to workers that their jobs are safe and won’t be outsourced.
